About

Our inspiration lies in the swing style of jazz music and dance of the Swing Era of the 1930s and early 1940s. The majority of swing dances have African-American roots and their origins predate the Swing Era. One of the instances is Lindy Hop, a fun and energetic partner dance, originating in the African American community of Harlem, New York city; it is a fusion of its predecessors, such as jazz, tap, charleston and African dance.

Harbour Hop festival was established in 2013 as an initiative to bring joy to our local swing dance community and to celebrate the dances we all love. Harbour Hop is run entirely by volunteers and relies on the hard work and dedication of enthusiastic dancers.
